BA3B ♪ RHYTHM OF THE GODS ♪ WEEK 7

This week, Sophia passed some rock sprites on to me so that I could work on animating their reflections in the water. There were ten unique rock sprites, which meant I had to animate ten unique reflection animations; because of the high quantity of rocks, and the reason that they were to be subtle background elements rather than main focuses, I limited each animation to 4 frames each. Despite this, it became fairly tedious fairly quickly.

However, the rock reflections look pretty good animated, so it felt worth it in the end.

After this, Sophia had redone the water background, so I set about animating that one. It really helped that I did the rocks first, as they gave me the necessary knowledge of how to animate water reflections at a slightly smaller scale. I animated Sophia's background art by moving small portions of the reflections back and forth frame by frame, and limited the cycle to four frames to match with the rock reflections. The result is an animation which gives the effect of light reflecting off rippling water.

During this week, the whole team met up with Beth and Sarah from the Ideas Factory, who talked to us about the proposal for a games hub that they had been pushing for funding for, which would involve space and equipment to studios starting up for a few years. We also met up with a solicitor and asked her about her opinion on whether a partnership or a company would be better for us, as well as how to deal with outsourcing aspects such as music in the future. We also went to see Daniel Scales of Four Circle Interactive, which was a very helpful and constructive lecture to us, as Four Circle Interactive started out in a fairly similar situation to us.
