05:58For this assignment, we were to create at least three digital paintings focusing on anatomy.
I first sketched a series of sketches and thumbnails to decide which image I wanted to create.
I decided to take my biggest challenge first by painting a person from the back (I have never really focused on muscles in the back and wanted to take the time to study them further.) I started drawing up the image a little further but had issues drawing the back, resulting in me taking some time to focus on looking at references of the back so I could draw it accurately. Once I had this down, I began painting the first piece more seriously.
I was quite satisfied with this piece though I feel it is overworked in some areas and the colours of the clouds may be a bit muddied in some areas.
I created my other pieces in a similar way but I had significantly less issues drawing them, most of which could be resolved by looking at my own arm or leg or posing in a mirror to see how the pose I wanted to achieve worked. I also played about with colour palettes to see how these would affect the mood of the image.
I'm a little less satisfied with this piece as something about the composition feels off. Perhaps she is sitting a little too far to the left and her hair should not be clipping the edge of the canvas. However, I think the colours are effective.
