BA1B ★ Task 2 ★ Texturing

02:27

Following classwork in which we learned about unwrapping and texturing, we were assigned to texture a 3D object (barrel). We learned to texture in a non-destructive manner, using layers and settings to create our texture. In class, my barrel was simple, but for this assignment I added paint splatters and a wood texture (texture credit: designtrends)

I painted my texture using the UV map as a guide in Clip Studio Paint.

In order to complete this texture, I started off adding the base browns, beiges and silvers in each section. I then added the wood texture and details, finally finishing it off with the paint splatters. Between each save, I checked that the textured barrel looked adequate by bringing the texture into Maya to see what needed to be changed. I also tried to work in a non-destructive way, as we had been taught.

Overall I'm quite happy with this texture. I feel like there are a few things that could be improved with practice as some of the paint splatters do not meet exactly, but I think the overall effect of the barrel is good.
